Leon Washington Injured Out for Season

New York Jets running back Leon Washington broke his right leg on Sunday against the Oakland Raiders. On his first carry of the game, Leon Washington ran for 6 yards before an Oakland defender landed on his leg causing a compound fracture of the tibia and fibula. The tibia required a rod to be inserted in order to fix the leg and doctors expect the fibula to heal on its own.

The loss of Leon Washington is big for the Jets as he was one of their top players. An offensive weapon catching and running out of the back field, Leon Washington was a dynamic kick and punt returner. Shonn Greene filled in for Leon Washington and had 19 carries for 144 yards and two touchdowns.  Trading up in the draft to select Shonn Greene in the second round proved to be a smart move.

The Jets expect Leon Washington to make a full recovery. Get Well Soon Leon, Jets Nation will miss you while you are gone.
