Thank You New York Jets

February 26th, 2010 New York No comments

The 2009-2010 season was the greatest season in my life as a New York Jets fan.

I just want to say thank you to all of the players and coaches who have made this regular season captivating and the improbable playoff run riveting and unforgettable.

The future of the Jets looks bright, but before everyone starts talking about all the positives for next season, we should reflect on a few of the thrilling moments and lasting impressions with which the Jets players  thoroughly entertained us with this entire year. Their skill and passion for the game alongside the cockiness and bravado made being a Jets fan this year something truly special.

Big, Loud, and Proud Rex Ryan proclaiming confidence like the clear favorite in the face of unimaginable odds. And for proclaiming us dead when we actually had a faint heartbeat.

Mark Sanchez going through every phase of being a rookie while saving his best for when it mattered most.  Two playoff victories ties Joe Flacco for most ever by a rookie and his AFC Championship game performance was truly magnificent.

Being 23 minutes away from the Superbowl. Next year lets get some home playoff games – in our brand new stadium!!!

Revis Island. Single handedly making defense cool.

The entire defense. Witnessing that level of play week in and week out made me believe in stops and not just hope for them.

Running the football. Old School football is still relevant and Thomas Jones, Shonn Greene and Leon Washington were the best at it.

Braylon Edwards.  Braylon we new you were due for a big catch, but the 80 yard AFC Championship game touchdown reception from Mark Sanchez was even beyond our wildest imagination. We all witnessed the  longest offensive play in New York Jets playoff history.  That trade was awesome.

Jerricho Cotchery. Love the toughness, soft hands and intelligence you bring to the table.

Dustin Keller you are a huge part of our future, and  your three touchdowns during the playoffs makes you a top flight tight-end.

The Owner and General Manager for assembling an all star cast of players that appears to be primed for a good run in the near future.

The fans for chanting J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets loud, real loud. And to Fireman Ed for telling us when to do so.

I know I am proudly riding the  Green Wave on the new era Jets.

Thank You,

Robert, lifelong Jets fan

Jets Upset Chargers to Advance to AFC Championship Game

January 18th, 2010 Mean Green No comments

The New York Jets shocked the football universe by having two rookies lead the Jets past the San Diego Chargers.

In the second greatest game ever played by the Jets franchise, the 2009-2010 New York Jets are in the AFC Championship Game.

The improbable 17-14 win over the hottest team in football – Chargers had 11 consecutive victories going into the game – moves the Jets into a rematch with Indianapolis for the right to play in the Superbowl.

Great Effort. Defense played with a lion’s heart and the entire team contributed to this amazing victory.

Brilliant game Mark Sanchez. You made history and we believe you can take us to the Superbowl.

Shonn Greene. Two postseason games both of which he rushed for over 100 yards and scored a crucial touchdown.

Thomas Jones. When we needed one yard we knew you could get it for us.

Darrelle Revis. Again the game turned on your interception. Your half speed run was stride for stride with Vincent Jackson running all out.

Jim Leonard. That toughness and determination makes you an integral part of our defense.

Special Teams. Well coached and well executed.

Dustin Keller. Great hands.

Coaching Staff. Great minds.

I am the Happiest Person in San Diego

By the way, check out my NFL Playoff Predictions from September they were pretty close, got 3 of the final four correct and of course I got Jets over the Vikings in the Superbowl.

In a Playoff Win for the Ages Coach Rex Ryan Foresees Victory

In a Playoff Win for the Ages

Jets Defeat Bengals.

The New York Jets, who were way outside looking into the playoffs just a few weeks ago have now become the NFL Cinderella.

Total Team Effort. Sanchise Delivered. Defense Delivered. Running Game, Special Teams and Coaches Delivered. Dustin Keller Played Great. How about that for playoff experience for Mark Sanchez.

This win needs to be celebrated.

Love Rex Ryan. Before the game, the New York Jets coach did an indirect Joe Namath type guarantee by passing out a practice/off day schedule to the entire team through February 9, 2010 – the day of the Superbowl Parade.

Fireman Ed led energized Fans of Gang Green with heartfelt chants all game during the Jets 37-0 rout against the Bengals in the last game ever to be played at Giants Stadium (unless Baltimore and New York both advance to the AFC title game).

The total team effort and brilliant coaching job by Rex Ryan and his entire staff put the Jets in the playoffs. In remarkable fashion the Jets dominated the entire game against Cincinnati.

Cincinnati will be watching the game film. Next week it will be a rematch.

Bill Belichick and the Patriots Collapse

October 12th, 2009 New York No comments

A two score lead was not enough for the New England Patriots to beat the upstart Denver Broncos. The ex-assistant coach under Belichick made his old master his bitch by winning the game. Broncos Coach Josh McDaniel then proceeded to celebrate by Incredible Hulk style ripping off his shirt and jubilantly giving high-fives to the entire locker room. Almost Jets Coach Rex Ryan-esque energy, enthusiasm, cockiness, and trash talking abilities. This was obviously not just another game.

Meanwhile, the old Bill Belichick put on that usual scour as he ran off the field after the overtime field goal by the Broncos sailed through the upright to the delight of a huge crowd in Colorado. You know he was pissed that Quarterback Kyle Orton outplayed Tom Brady. You know he was pissed his one time prodigy Coach McDaniel just beat him on national television. You know he was pissed the Jets can take a lead in the AFC East Division by beating the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football.

In other related news of AFC East foes struggling: The Buffalo Bills lost a game 6-3. Three points is a pretty piss poor performance, expect Terrell Owens not to be smiling anytime soon and his mouth to begin singing at any moment.

NY Jets Win Stay Undefeated

September 28th, 2009 Mean Green No comments

Head Coach Rex Ryan has put a defense in place that is good, very good. The defense shut down the Tennessee Titans in the fourth quarter as the Titans tried twice to get even. After stopping the Titans 2008 undefeated season with a shocking win last year, many of the talking heads thought that a team playing for their season would come in with revenge on their mind. Maybe the Titans did. But the 2009 New York Jets had 3-0 on their mind as well. Rising superstar quarterback Mark Sanchez threw for two touchdowns and had a highlight reel 15 yard touchdown run to lead the NY Jets to unexpected 3-0 start to the season. The three wins have come against high quality opponents and have given the NY Jets great momentum heading into next week’s game against the potent passing offense of Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints at the Superdome in New Orleans.

The defense looked OK for the first  three quarters. But when the thousands of Jets faithful needed the defense to rise to the occasion in the fourth quarter the Jets defense obliged by shutting down the Titans. Lineback David Harris had a sack and an interception during the fourth quarter to lead one of the NFL’s best defenses.

Head Coach Rex Ryan is 3-0 and sitting alone on top of the AFC east division. ”I’d like to say that this is exactly what I predicted, but we played three outstanding football teams”. The coach has a swagger about him that the players seem to be following. Some claim Rex Ryan has a big mouth, but when you can back it up with wins then it is easy to be confident. ”We’re 3-0 right here. Maybe that says something about us.”

Jerricho Cotchery caught both touchdown passes from Mark Sanchez and is quickly becoming his favorite target. The fourth quarter touchdown put the Jets in the lead for good giving the Jets their first come from behind victory of the season.

DEFENSE shuts down Overhyped Brady and Company

Jets Have Arrived Defensively. Through two games the Jets Defense has given up zero touchdowns. Tom Brady shut down and made to shut the #$%@ up.

Rex Ryan’s defense blitzed over half the plays putting Tom Brady on his ass and embarrasing the biggest cheater in sports Bill Belichick.

Jets defense Darrelle Revis shut down Randy Moss. Then Darrelle Revis intercepted a pass to Randy Moss because the Brady to Moss doesn’t happen in our house.

Rex Ryan called out every Jets fan. Jets fans responded loud and proud. Passionate Loudness was heard as far away as California making Brady look silly on a number of occassions.

New England Patriots vs. New York Jets

September 19th, 2009 New York Jets No comments

The much anticipated match up between the New England Patriots and the New York Jets gets underway at the Meadowlands in New Jersey on Sunday. New England barely beat the Buffalo Bills at home thanks mostly to the Bills blundering a two score lead in the last two minutes of the game. On the other hand, the New York Jets impressively shut down the third highest scoring offense from last season the Houston Texans en route to a dominating win which showcased highlight reel plays from rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez, powerful running from Thomas Jones, and the Rex Ryan defense playing better then even an optimist expected.

Of note in this matchup is the fact Rex Ryan called out the fans, asking them for their best cheering effort. Loud and proud he wants us behind our team especially on defense. Make it loud and make it difficult for Tom Brady to converse with his offensive weapons. The only issue I have with Rex Ryan voicemail to all season ticket holders was the part where he claimed he wasn’t as good a coach as Bill Belichick. Okay, Belichick has rings, but all that is washed away after he was caught cheating. His super team has not been so super ever since he was caught cheating. Point being all of those championships are tainted, the same way the Boston Red Sox last two Championships are tainted because Manny Ramirez and Big Pappi were caught using performance enhancing drugs. So Rex Ryan is 1-0, but that is an honorable 1-0 because it was earned the right way.

Hopefully Rex you’ll be 2-0 after this weekend. Get Loud. J – E – T – S JETS! JETS! JETS!
