Jets Upset Chargers to Advance to AFC Championship Game

January 18th, 2010 No comments

The New York Jets shocked the football universe by having two rookies lead the Jets past the San Diego Chargers.

In the second greatest game ever played by the Jets franchise, the 2009-2010 New York Jets are in the AFC Championship Game.

The improbable 17-14 win over the hottest team in football – Chargers had 11 consecutive victories going into the game – moves the Jets into a rematch with Indianapolis for the right to play in the Superbowl.

Great Effort. Defense played with a lion’s heart and the entire team contributed to this amazing victory.

Brilliant game Mark Sanchez. You made history and we believe you can take us to the Superbowl.

Shonn Greene. Two postseason games both of which he rushed for over 100 yards and scored a crucial touchdown.

Thomas Jones. When we needed one yard we knew you could get it for us.

Darrelle Revis. Again the game turned on your interception. Your half speed run was stride for stride with Vincent Jackson running all out.

Jim Leonard. That toughness and determination makes you an integral part of our defense.

Special Teams. Well coached and well executed.

Dustin Keller. Great hands.

Coaching Staff. Great minds.

I am the Happiest Person in San Diego

By the way, check out my NFL Playoff Predictions from September they were pretty close, got 3 of the final four correct and of course I got Jets over the Vikings in the Superbowl.

In a Playoff Win for the Ages Coach Rex Ryan Foresees Victory

In a Playoff Win for the Ages

Jets Defeat Bengals.

The New York Jets, who were way outside looking into the playoffs just a few weeks ago have now become the NFL Cinderella.

Total Team Effort. Sanchise Delivered. Defense Delivered. Running Game, Special Teams and Coaches Delivered. Dustin Keller Played Great. How about that for playoff experience for Mark Sanchez.

This win needs to be celebrated.

Love Rex Ryan. Before the game, the New York Jets coach did an indirect Joe Namath type guarantee by passing out a practice/off day schedule to the entire team through February 9, 2010 – the day of the Superbowl Parade.

Control Our Own Destiny

The last regular season game of the NFL season.

The last game at Giants Stadium (unless Jets host AFC Championship).

If the Jets beat the Bengals the Jets make the playoffs.

May this be a GREEN DAY!

Good Wishes to Sanchez, Jones, Receivers, Tight Ends, Fullbacks, Greene, O-Line, Coaches, Special Teams and the Revis Lead Defense.

My Fantasy FootballJets.com Team Mirrored the NY Jets

December 28th, 2009 No comments

I don’t love talking about fantasy football on here, even though it is a passion of mine and increasingly so amongst football fans.

However, my fantasy team in a 20 team league seemingly mirrored the actual Jets team it was uncanny. Like by some freak of nature naming my team footballjets.com I became bound to feel the excitement and the agony of the actual New York Jets with every win and loss. All season long it was almost totally n’sync with the wins and losses occurring on the field.

NY JETS: WWWLLLWLLLWWWLW

Fantasy: WWLLWLW LLWWWWWLW

Notice we both started strong, tapered off to fall below 500 before coming on strong late only to have a late season disappointment followed up by a spirited win.

My fantasy team had the Jets defense and Jericho Cotchery who I traded away Mark Sanchez for during the middle of the season since I needed wide receiver help and already had Drew Brees as my starting quarterback.

I finished my fantasy season yesterday, finishing in third place. My team made a late rush just to make the playoffs by winning a series of games late in the season to snag the 7th seed (4th overall in scoring), before upsetting one of the top teams in the playoffs (the week the Jets beat Tampa Bay), fizzling in the semifinals (the week the Jets loss to Atlanta) and then winning the consolation game (the week the Jets beat to Indianapolis) to finish in third place.

I would love for the real Jets to make the playoffs and then make some noise in those playoffs.

My team consisted of:

In case your wondering what a 20 team league team looks like mine was Drew Brees, Bernard Berrian, Jericho Cotchery, Houshmandzadeh, Ricky Williams, Darren Sproles, Jason Witten, Nate Kaeding, and the Jets Defense.

Jets Defense Steps Up

December 27th, 2009 No comments

Jets Lead by 14.

Shonn Green back in the game and running out the clock.

Jets proved today that having the number 1 Defense and number 1 Rushing Attack is still relevant in today’s NFL.
