New England Patriots verse New York Jets

October 14th, 2011 No comments

…and the winner is… the New England Patriots.

The fallout is…Derrick Mason gets traded to Houston for a couple of used tackling dummies and a draft pick to be named later.

The Jets defense right now is not very good, and though they held Tom Brady relatively in check, the Patriots running game was pounding on them all night long.

The Jets are 2-3, getting kicked on by the national media while Brian Schottenheimer is getting ripped indirectly by players and directly by just about everyone else.

At least the Jets have a chance to cure all that ails them against a Miami Dolphins team that has not won a game all season and may be on the verge of going all-in in the suck for Luck (Standford Quarterback) draft pick sweepstakes. Monday Night will be a big game, because if the Jets fall to 2-4 their playoff chances will be crushed, but at 3-3 they would be in the middle of things and be primed for a better second half.

New York Jets Come From Behind Victory Over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football

September 11th, 2011 No comments

The Opening Weekend of NFL Football was simply incredible with many upsets and breakout performances. The excitement climaxed on Sunday Night Football where the New York Jets on the Tenth Anniversary of 9-11 had one of the most amazing come from behind victories over the Dallas Cowboys winning 27-24.

This game was emotional. The Jets took off a little slow out of the gates, but then the fourth quarter arrived and the New York Jets behind the energy of 80,000 loud fans made play after play on offense, defense and on special teams to win a game that looked out of reach.

Nick Folk 50 yard field goal gave the Jets the 3 point lead with less than a minute to play. Kicker Nick Folk made the biggest kick in his career, taking avenge on the team that cut him a few years ago.

Mark Sanchez threw for over 300 yards and never quit after making a couple of mistakes. The quarterback Mark Sanchez found different receivers in crucial situations and made just enough plays to pull out the epic win over Rob Ryan’s highly touted defense.

Rex Ryan defense gave up a couple long scoring drives early in the game, but then they got comfortable and put a ton of pressure on Dallas Cowboy Quarterback Tony Romo.  The special teams and the defense decided the game by making some tremendous second half plays. Brian Schottenheimer was steadily aggressive calling pass after pass and only sprinkling in the occasional run. The aggressiveness payed off when the Cowboys secondary was injured and worn down allowing Jets receivers to find openings and opportunities that they took advantage of over and over.

Special Teams of the Jets came up with the biggest plays of the game. The blocked punt return for touchdown made the entire stadium go bonkers. Then Nick Folk drilled the kick of his life to send the Jets into the win column.

Jets Defense by many players including stars Bart Scott and Darrelle Revis. Linebacker Bart Scott pressured Romo and had some huge tackles. Corner back Darrelle Revis made the interception late which set-up the game winning field goal. Romo had the lead and the Cowboys were in the driver seat. However, the pressure of the moment forced Romo to make mistakes, and the Jets capitalized in the biggest way.

Ladainian Tomlinson was making plays including many huge first downs by catching Mark Sanchez passes in the flat and finding the first down chains and doing whatever it took to get past the chains. In reality the stars of the Jets all seemed to make plays.

Plaxico Burress was quite in the first half and then he made his return to the NFL memorable. With several catches on the game none were bigger than the Mark Sanchez to Plaxico Burress touchdown pass down the sideline.

Jim Leonard who ran all the way down the field and made a game changing tackle that preceded the Tony Romo goal line fumble that ignited the comeback.

New York Jets Come From Behind Victory Over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football, just had to repeat the title because this win was something special on a truly special day in American History. God Bless America and thank you to all the men and women who lost their lives saving others on that unforgettable day ten years ago. The NY Police Department, NY Fire Department, First Responders and all those who lost their lives  you will all, forever, be in our hearts.

Buffalo Bills Suck

October 3rd, 2010 No comments

The 38-14 thrashing of the Buffalo Bills by the New York Jets doesn’t say a whole lot about how good the Jets are as a team.

What it does say is that the Buffalo Bills Suck.

Honestly, we already kinda new the Buffalo Bills Suck but the Jets exposed them in every aspect of their suckiness. Their offense was pathetic, with their quarterback scrambling for 74 yards the only positive yardage they seemed to muster all game. Their defense couldn’t come even close to stopping the constantly improving offensive juggernaut which has become the Mark Sanchez led Jets offense. Even the Buffalo Bills special teams sucked.

The NY Jets won 2 games in the division last year, so far we have won all 3 games in the division this year. Mark Sanchez has 8 touchdown passes on the season and 0 interceptions. LT and Shonn Greene both ran for over 100 yards, with LT scoring two touchdowns.  Secret weapon Brad Smith did his usual thing and Dustin Kellar caught two touchdowns for the second week in a row.

The NY Jets blew up the New England Patriots
The NY Jets blew up the Miami Dolphins
The NY Jets blew up the Buffalo Bills

Who in the AFC East is gonna compete? We know the Buffalo Bills Suck with their 0-4 record, and despite giving both Miami and New England a run for their money in games earlier in the season the Bills might end up with 0 wins. With the Dolphins playing the New England Patriots on Monday Night Football on October 4 the contender and pretender in the division will be revealed.

Okay, so the Buffalo Bills suck, but that doesn’t mean this wasn’t a good win for the Jets. The Jets are getting a lot of attention from the media as being one of the premier teams in the AFC. Indianapolis lost to Jacksonville today, and Jacksonville is horrible so Peyton Manning’s squad is no longer as big a bully as it once was. Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Houston appear to be the other NFL cities with quality teams that through a quarter of the season appear to be playoff caliber.

Even though the Buffalo Bills Suck it is still awesome to watch our NY Football Jets play this well in all facets of the game. The offense can move the ball and has plenty of weapons.  Now we get to add Santonio Holmes to the mix, and if you don’t know how good a Superbowl MVP wide receiver Santonio Holmes is than you are in for a pleasant surprise. With Braylon Edwards catching another touchdown today, we will now have two awesome wide receivers. Jerricho Cotchery can move to the slot where he will be more effective and with Dustin Kellar playing the tight end position at the level he is the Jets have one of the best passing attacks in the NFL. Add to that two great running backs, a young improving quarterback, a great defense, a brilliant defensive minded head coach, a talented offensive coordinator in Brian Schottenheimer and some wrinkles like Brad Smith the NY Jets management have put together a title contender.

Today was a nice win even though the Buffalo Bills Suck, but let us focus on a huge game coming up as we have Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings next weekend.
